Carol K. Clark

DVM, DACVIM

Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Carol Clark grew up around her grandfather’s ranch horses and knew at a young age she wanted to be a veterinarian. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate and veterinary education. After graduating, Dr. Clark moved to Ocala, FL in 1991 for an internship with Peterson Smith Equine Hospital. In 1992 she began a 3-year Large Animal Internal Medicine residency at the University of Florida and became a Board-Certified Internal Medicine Specialist in 1995.

Dr. Clark went on to do private practice relief work for both small animal and equine practice until becoming an associate at Peterson Smith Equine Hospital in 1996. There, she trained in surgery and has enjoyed using her medical background for emergency surgical cases. In 2003 she became a partner in the practice. Dr. Clark manages the NICU and internal medicine referral cases. She has strong interests and has pursued further training in cardiology and ophthalmology.

Dr. Clark has been an author in over 25 scientific papers and is a member of the Greyson Jockey Club Research Advisory Committee. She has been on advisory councils for various pharmaceutical companies and is on the Florida Horse Park Board of Directors. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, participating in sprint triathlons, and riding her OTTB horse “Bones” in dressage and low-level eventing competitions.
